Greg Inglis: NRL great marries in front of friends and family

NRL great Greg Inglis has married in a private ceremony in front of a handful of family and friends.

The South Sydney premiership-winner and Queensland legend married former NRL staffer Alyse Caccamo at Peppers Pokolbin, the Daily Telegraph reported.

Only 30 guests were invited to the ceremony including Inglis’ two children, Quinn and Nate, as well as the couple’s closest friends and family.

It is Inglis’ second marriage after he separated from former wife Sally, with whom he has two children.

Inglis returned home to Australia in 2021 after a short-lived stint in the English Super League with Warrington ended after he suffered a serious hamstring injury.

He returned to play with Macksville on the NSW Mid-North Coast.

He also launched his own clothing line, Strive by GI, as well as founding Goanna Academy, a mental health organisation.

The Goanna Academy aims to break down the stigma surrounding mental health for at-risk youth.

Inglis had a well-documented battle with mental health problems during his career and spent two stints in rehab.

“People see me as Greg Inglis, famous footballer, 1000 friends,” he recently told CODE.

“Then there’s who I really am. I’m a Dunghutti man who grew up in Macksville, who loved football, who did this and that.

“If you strip all that famous stuff away, then I’m just a normal person like them. I have the same challenges as anyone.

“For me to tell my story in that way, I find it not only rewarding but... it’s a weird feeling that I get when I see kids listening. After the talks, they don’t ask anything about football, they ask about mental health and where they can get help.”

Inglis played 263 games for Melbourne and South Sydney before retiring from the NRL in 2019.

He was also part of the legendary Queensland side which won eight State of Origin series in a row.
