Tom Aspinall is the fastest fighter to 5 UFC wins EVER ahead of legends like Conor McGregor, Anderso

Tom Aspinall proved he is indeed for real last weekend with a stunning first round submission of Alexander Volkov at UFC London.

The 28-year-old became the fastest fighter to five UFC wins with the victory having spent just 14 minutes and 24 seconds in the octagon - that’s not even one full, three-round fight.

The heavyweight has four first round wins under his belt and only former champion Andrei Arlovski managed to make it to the second round with Aspinall, but he too then tapped out.

Aspinall smashes the record previously held by Ronda Rousey who surged to five wins in just 17 minutes and 23 seconds.

Frank Mir is next on the list at 19 minutes and 28 seconds, then Mike Swick at 20 minutes and 10 seconds, Junior Dos Santos at 20 minutes and 15 seconds and finally, the middleweight GOAT Anderson Silva at 21 minutes and 56 seconds.

Conor McGregor’s first five matches took him 29 minutes and 15 seconds to win. He had four knockouts in that span - three in the first round - but going the distance with future UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway in his second fight whacked 15 minutes onto his time.

Aspinall now finds himself in the top six heavyweights in the UFC and has some huge fights ahead of him.

Francis Ngannou is the champion, but UFC boss Dana White has admitted they will probably have to make another interim title fight given the Cameroonian needs knee surgery.

That could be Jon Jones versus Stipe Miocic or even feature Cyril Gane again, but Aspinall wants fellow rising heavyweight Tua Tuivasa.

Whatever happens, Aspinall is pleased his quick wins are keeping his mystique.

“I didn’t really show much,” Aspinall said at the post-fight press conference. “I keep it that way every time if I can. I want to be the biggest mystery in heavyweight MMA. These people think they know about me — nobody knows about me. These people think they know what they’re up against — nobody knows what they’re up against. Let’s keep it a secret.”

Aspinall is a powerful puncher, but the Mancunian has also displayed a frightening proficiency on the ground.

“It couldn’t have gone any better,” Aspinall said after beating Volkov. “That was the ideal performance. I truly thought I was gonna go five rounds. To get a guy like Volkov — who has been finished twice [in the UFC] — out of there in the first round, just shows credit to my finishing ability. My finishing ability is highest of the high level.

“[It was] everything I dreamed of and more. Unbelievable. I see a lot of media and s--t like that, ‘Oh, he’s gonna feel the pressure when he fights in front of a crowd. Oh, he’s gonna feel the pressure with Volkov who is a veteran.’ Other people might feel the pressure. Other people are not me. I’m different.”
